The Hall Petry article is a short history of "Smoke", a "little magazine" brought into being principally by S. Foster Damon which ran to 22 issues between 1931-1937. The article also mentions "GAS and more gas," a "ten-page typed 'magazine' featuring a curious blend of sophomoric humor, witty parody, and vicious personal attacks."
