This is the 1962 illustrated album edition, with the original illustrations by B.T.B and Nicholas Bentley. It is a hardcover in good condition. The dust jacket has wear and has yellowed with age but remains in good shape. The cover edges are also lightly worn and discolored slightly. The pages yellowed, but clean and readable. There is a sticker from a previous sale on the back of the dust jacket. It is still an excellent reading copy, with a well-maintained binding.
A hilarious classic anthology of moral instruction. If you are you prone to telling tales or running away then ignore these poems at your peril or you might suffer the same fate as Matilda, Who told lies and was Burned to Death or Jim, Who ran away from his nurse and was eaten by a Lion!
First published over a hundred years ago, Hilaire Belloc's tongue-in-cheek poems of moral instruction for children, with amusing illustrations are as sharp, funny and memorable as ever. This 1962 edition contains the works Cautionary Tales for Children, New Cautionary Tales, The Bad Child's Book of Beasts, More Beasts for Worse Children, More Peers, A Moral Alphabet, and Ladies and Gentlemen, all in one volume.
