Кондратьев (Sergei Alexandrovich Kondratiev) author examines the musical structures underlying traditional Mongolian epic performance and song. Drawing on field experience including his participation in the 1923-26 Tibeto-Mongolian Expedition led by Pyotr Kozlov, Kondratiev analyzes epic storytelling forms, vocal traditions and associated instrumental practices. Published by Советский композитор (Sovetskii Kompozitor), the principal music publishing house of the USSR’s Union of Soviet Composers.
