The Old Tiler was a character created for a regular column in the now extinct masonic newspaper the Fellowship Forum. He was known for his “homely philosophy, sharp tongue and common sense” (ix). This book is a collection of some of the best Old Tiler essays and short stories.

The binding is slightly loose, and there is a fracture between the front endpapers and the title page. A blue ink inscription sits in the front endpapers for a "George L. Caron" of the "Pleasant River Lodge."
