A gorgeous first edition, published by Knopf in 1960 -- one in the series of Borzoi Nature Study Books. The interior features illustrated endpapers and charming, charismatic nature illustrations and photographic vignettes of pond life: mink, turtles, snails, larvae, and the like.
- hardcover
- 122 pages
- green cloth over boards, blue stamped text and motifs
- colored dust jacket
- interior illos all black and white
There is significant foxing on the interior of the dust jacket, but this does not continue onto either the exterior or interior of the book. Cover clean and bright. The pages are also clean and bright with no marks or creasing.
Overall, this is a delightful item for collectors or for young readers who are curious about the world.
